Rotary Portugal — End Plastic Soup

What is End Plastic Soup?

EndPlasticSoup.org

EndPlasticSoup.org is the global home of this movement — a Rotary environmental campaign that began in 2018 with a handful of Amsterdam Rotary clubs and has since grown into a worldwide force for change, active in over 60 countries.

Since 2020, the movement has been anchored by Stichting EndPlasticSoup, a Dutch foundation. It's steered by an International Leadership Team, a Foundation Board, Region and Theme Directors, an Advisory Board, and a growing corps of Young Ambassadors — the next generation carrying the mission forward.

One target: ending plastic pollution in the world's waters, soil and air by 2050.

Visit www.endplasticsoup.org for the global newsletter, the monthly Plastic Cafe (every third Thursday), the full list of participating clubs, and the Foundation's annual reports.

End Plastic Soup Portugal

Founded by Rotary Club Atlântico (District 1960) in January 2024 with a single purpose: to end plastic pollution across Portugal's coasts, rivers, forests, and communities within a generation. This isn't one project among many — it's the club's entire reason for being.

Every November, EPS Portugal runs Week of the Sea Without Plastic (WSWP) | Semana do Mar Sem Plástico. — this year, the campaign of November 2–9 — is bringing together schools, municipalities, NGOs, and industry across mainland Portugal, the Açores, and Madeira. Partners span the country's environmental network:

Escola Azul, ABAAE (Blue Flag), Geoparque Oeste (UNESCO Global Geopark), Green Key, and Eco Freguesias.

Big news: WSWP | Semana do Mar Sem Plástico 2026 now carries the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Plastic pollution isn't someone else's problem, solved somewhere else. School by school, river by river, coastline by coastline — every community is asked to own what enters its own water ways.
